Christ ... It Ain't Easy Being Cheerios ... (listening to Ike Y Tina Turner)

PUES ... hace mucho tiempo ... but one of sanTana's most infamous gabachos was poco loco ... simon ... years ago there was a man named CHEERIOS ... who kicked it on Main y Edinger ... across from Jack-in-your-Crack ... CHEERIOS would wave to all the pinche gente ... "turn your lights on" ... "be careful" ... "buckle up" ... ETCETERA ... simon ... everyone knew this vato and he became a pinche unified school district legend ... y-que ...

This vato was also a pinche mental health legend ... simon ... but that was years ago ... BUTT since then ... has our barrio mentally changed since that loco was hitting the town ... no se ... all I know es que determining the pinche health of nuestra cosa ain't easy ... is it measured by the pinche galleria bullshit overtaking us como un pinche 8 incher ... or by the amount of pinche retail sales tax we generate ... or how about the amount we rec back, pinche Moorlach ... or how about the success of our escuelitas ... how many go on, how many com-pinche-plete, how many can just pincher leer y escribir by grado tres or by grado trese ... ondale ... or how about just our overall health ... how healthy we are vis-a-pinche-vis calorie intake, diabetes, weight, ETCETERA ... or how about our pinche mental health ... just how un-loco somos ... ondale ...

AND when you're cruising down Calle Main aqui en sanTana x13 ... just seeing the large number of unstable brothers and sisters just freaks you out ... simon ... they hang out alli on Main y Chestnut at the bus stop en frente de that pinche hamburgesa lugar ... at the Alano Center ... son todos locos BUTT it's a pinche fraternity de algo ... y-que ... what's trippy is that each day, I see mas y mas Afro-Americanos walking those calles ... simon ... ese, stop buy for a "for here" chenate at McDonald's on calle 1st and you'll see una chinga de Afro-Americanos just walking it ... simon ... and same with gabachos ... this mental population is quite pinche diverse and is being dumped off aqui by placa do otro ciudades y condados to the max ...

BUTT Anyways ESE ... I was habladoing with gente from the pinche National Committee Against Drunk Driving (NCADD) and this one vato stated que unos 80% of gente en el carce (jail, ese) are there on crimes related to drug or alcohol ... simon ... they're there for crimes they committed porque they were high or they were caught with a couple joints or a ton of pinche coke ...

Simon ... everyone's connected even the pinche presidente and his hijas, I assume ... to the PINCHE MAX ... pero sabes que ... shooting coca ain't no laughing matter ... CHALE ... you can be told that ... TAMBIEN ... TODOS SOMOS LOCOS ... simon ... we're all pinche nuts and shit ... I mean we read Prez Clinton deal with this abuses in his recent one million page autobiography MY LIFE ... it's dealt with in many ways ... shit folks ... no escribo pare ustedes ... PUTOS ... BUTT hoy ... there's a few cuentas en las pinche papeles that somewhat show our pinche daily state of mental health ...

LA Times homie Steve Lopez escribe about the most funded lugar for mental health servicios en el mundo ... simon ... LA County Jail funded thru the pinche Sheriff's dept serves more mental health gente than anyone in the pinche universe ... that's no secret ... and proper mental health officer training and cultural competency training remain a die hard battle for MH depts, patients, groups and family members ...

TAMBIEN ... pues ... there's cracks in every system and moments when patients etc just aren't being watched properly ... and it's always during these timed times when cosas pasan ... simon ... the LA Times also covers another death at Patton Mental State Hospital ...

At the same pinche time eses ... a while back the Register reported on the physical ed health of Naranjaville youth ... simon ... seems like the pinche ninos are still doing one push up and shit and are pinche struggle to do a pinche sit-up ... ayyy chingow ... some might say, they're not lazy ... just alienated from concerns including their own pinche health ... pues disillusioned con su realidad ...

Tambien ... Paul Campos, in a review of Joan Didion's latest libro The Year of Magical Thinking ... hits an all too pinche importante cord of the North American consumer psyche ... dice Campos, "Didion notes that modern culture does not deal well with death. Death, writes Philip Aries, has become "shameful and forbidden." The anthropologist Geoffrey Gorer points out one consequence of this is that public mourning is barely tolerated. Instead, an "ethical duty to enjoy oneself," and to "do nothing which might diminish the enjoyment of others" have created an atmosphere in which mourning is treated as a morbid self-indulgence, and in which we admire "the bereaved who hide their grief so fully that no one would guess anything had happened."'

Campos sigue ... 'Didion comes to realize that her grief is seen as acceptable only to the extent it can be "managed." She is surrounded by people who have limitless faith in their ability to manage. "They believed absolutely in their own management skills. They believed absolutely in the power of the telephone numbers at their fingertips, the right doctor, the major donor, the person who could facilitate a favor at State or Justice."'

OK ... so Didion's a pinche dark writer ... Campos is a last page pinche commentary law professor ... and we're all pinche locos thinking VOTING in IRAQ in the next 180 days will establish a pinche DEMOCRACY ... BUTT having a pinche grand PUTA time ... y-que ... NOW ain't that a pinche shit ...
