"New Beginnings" for Valley High School

SanTana Unified School District reports that Valley High School may relocate to the new Godinez facility for one year during the 2006/07 academic year. The Valley project, dubbed "New Beginnings," will include much-needed air conditioning throughout the school, extensive classroom renovations and upgrading of electronic technology capabilities, a state-of-the-art science department, a complete remodel and redesign of the kitchen and cafeteria, and renovations to bathrooms to include new plumbing and fixtures, according to a district press release. Trustees will vote on the relocation matter at its November 22 meeting.

- enrollment: 2,901 in 1997/98 .... 3,123 in 2004/05
- Asian estudiante population: 7.6 in '97/98 .... 3.7% in '04/05
- 463 suspensions and 32 expulsions in '95/96 ... 180 and 5 respectively in '97/98 ... 655 and 10 respectively in '04/05
- dropouts: 137 estudiantes or 4.7% in '97/98 ... 374 estudiantes or 12% in '02/03 ... 106 or 3.4% in '03/04
