What do we want! ... When do we want it! (listening to Lalo Guerrero)

Pues, el gavado gov recently vetoed AB723 which would have helped improve race relations in escuelitas ... simon, the bill would have tackled racial problemas that are bred in Califas' classrooms, school committees, teacher training sessions, school textbooks, educational policies and procedures, state exams, even the pinche budget, fiscal and accountiung processes and throughout la fabrica of local unified escuelitas...

AB723 stated que the State Board of Educatin (SBE) "shall" consult with civil rights organizations and human relations commission (pues gente working on discrimination matters) in order to "integrate instruction on intergroup relations and tolerance into existing curriculum frameworks, where appropriate, and when adopting basic instructional materials" for use in grades k-8 .... hey, race relationships are real and are political ... you either want them or chale, you don't ... according to the bill's author Judy Chu (49thAD), "California has experienced an alarming number of hate incidents in public schools this past year. Much of this is fueled by California's growing diversity. Hate and bias messages must be countered by our public education system before they manifest into unsafe learning environments for our youth."

Pues, equality is too much for el gavado gov and his papi, el Pete Wilson et al ... so this bill was vetoed ... even after the May 26 plato at Jefferson High in Los Angeles involving several dozen black and Hispanic teens at the school which was so serious that school police used batons and pepper spray to break it up. Two other racially motivated brawls occurred at this school just weeks before the May 26 incident. In sanTana, there are fights cada dia between dark and light skinned raza, between Mexicanos and gente de Guatamala or wherever and turf battles (2 killings in my block within the last month) ... just cruise by the escuelas at las 3's and the platos lead right into the pinche pot holed calles and the chingow caruchas just drive around the bloody rallies ... then comes a bill that would introduce tools to fregar these problemas ... pinche gov ... ya vayase ...

At the same time, nearly 100,000 California 12th graders — or about 20% of this year's senior class — have failed the state's graduation exam, potentially jeopardizing their chances of earning diplomas ... educators say "that many students arrive unprepared and unmotivated for their high school courses and that their grades often reflect poor attendance and low parental involvement" ... key words gente .... unprepared and unmotivated ... in other pinche words, mainstream public schools have failed to form relationships with communidades especially barrios ... no saben because diversity is too overwhelming for these pinche outdated and inflexible institutions ... and when "cultural competency" trainings are held by these institutions, seems like the audience is always brown ... and el gavado gov knows this but slaps SB723 afuera ...

El gavado gov doesn't have our support ... not the support of maestros, educacion labor, educacion managers nor the support of raza's growing middle class ... pinche gov ... ya vayase ...
